Oklahoma’s GOP-dominated government celebrated a proud moment last week when it accomplished every Republican’s dream of returning to the 19thcentury.

As reported by Oklahoma City’s KWTV, “The legislature has passed, and the governor has signed a permitless carry bill. That means Oklahomans will soon be able to carry guns without a license, training and background checks.”

Gaining the governor’s mansion in 2011, it only took eight years for state Republicans, with total control of government, to erase the civilizing tendencies of the 20th century and totally de-stabilize society.

Yep, pardner,  we’re back to territory days when toting guns was necessary for self-protection. Get heeled!

With their corporate socialist agenda of protecting deep-pocketed-petro-polluters at all costs and destroying state government, the GOP now admits (proudly, at that) that their failureship can no longer guarantee our safety as we make our daily rounds.

          Now, where’s that surrey?

The statehouse gang were not the only Oklahoma Republicans displaying their abilities last week.

Rep. Tom Cole’s website bio tells us right beside his picture, that the congressman was, “Identified by Time Magazine as “one of the sharpest minds in the House.”  The editors at Time might want to find a whetstone.

Acee Agoyo of indianz.com reported last week, Cole’s “complaints about a one-page bill aren’t earning him many fans on social media.” Cole, a supporter of the Trump Publicity Emergency, was miffed when the House  repudiated the bogus claim of a national emergency.

According to Agoyo, Cole could “’not understand the haste with which the majority is pushing this disapproval resolution through. We’ve had no time to review the bill and no committee has held a hearing or marked it up.’”

Rushing unread tomes through Congress is legendary. But this time, no so much. Here is the resolution that our representative needed more time to study:

“Relating to a national emergency declared by the President on February 15, 2019.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That, pursuant to section 202 of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622), the national emergency declared by the finding of the President on February 15, 2019, in Proclamation 9844 (84 Fed. Reg. 4949) is hereby terminated.”

My word counter shows 67 words. Tom Cole needs more time to study it?

Cole’s reading disability showed up at indianz.com because he is an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation. And, though tribal contributions make a up large share of his campaign funding, many First Nation folks take issue with his pro-wall stance and his dogged support for a racist president.

And, a wall – never to be paid for by our cousins in Mexico –  would cut through Tohono O’odham land straddling the border.

Our plan for a dual precinct/county convention for county Dems was vetoed by the state party. But, remember, you must attend our March 14 gathering of precinct conventions to be eligible to participate at the county convention April 6. Cuidado.
